Ecological Hosting
We chose Ecological Hosting because of its ethics and values – it is ethically run, with all its servers, offices and data centre operating on 100% renewable energy. This particular server and the entire data centre that hosts it both run on solar power, which is capable of generating sixty kilowatt hours of clean, free energy per day.
Jamie Simpson, Director of Ecological Hosting, has been really helpful in providing us with support and environmentally friendly solutions for publishing our website.

Hilleberg the Tentmaker
When searching out the best tent for our expedition, we came across a family of tentmakers that really impressed us. The Hilleberg family began their tentmaking business over 30 years ago. Since then, they have worked hard to produce products that reflect their expertise and experience in the field.
Our Keron 4GT tent is is masterfully designed and gives us comfort, ease of use and pitching, reliability and versatility, strength and durability. We were given a demonstration of the strength of the outer tent fabric: the material was slashed, but upon rubbing it, the fabric ‘knitted’ itself back together and the hole was gone! The tent fits our needs perfectly and is an amazing home as we pedal across the world.
Petra and Rolf Hilleberg are at the helm of this family business, and we’re really happy that they are part of our adventures.

Lyon Equipment Ltd
Ortlieb pannier bags and dry bags, kindly provided by Lyon Equipment Ltd., are fitted to our bikes, which are loaded to the helm. The bags are transporting the material contents of our lives across the continents. It is amazing how much and how little we are taking with us and, having travelled across the world already with Ortlieb waterproof equipment, one thing is for sure – these bags are tough and definately won’t leak!
Thanks to Michelle and Frank at Lyon Equipment for including us in the Lyon Expedition Awards 2008.

Nelles-Verlag
Whilst cycling from Indonesia to Egypt, I used Nelles maps, wherever possible. They enabled me to easily establish my route, calculate the distance between towns and cities, know how accessible the roads were and view the contours of the landscape. I would spend hours studying these colourful and inspiring maps, plotting the next stages of my solo trip.
Dan and I are using Nelles maps for the Central Asia, China and Tibet section of our RideHimalaya expedition. We would like to thank Agnes at the Nelles-Verlag headquarters in Germany for her help and enthusiasm.
Reise Know-How
We are using Reise Know-How maps for the European and Caucasus section of our expedition. As well as being waterproof and tear resistant, these maps are detailed with a comprehensive index of place names. Relief shading, contour lines and marked mountain heights provide useful topographical information. Reise Know-How maps highlight scenic routes, places of interest, archaeological sites, campsites, monuments and viewpoints. We are making the most of this reliable information to plot our course.
